One of my dogs chewed my husband’s winter hat last year, so I thought I’d knit him a new one.
I’m using the Irish Hiking Hat pattern I downloaded from Ravelry, and I really like it. It uses a simple cable pattern that I love. I haven’t knit a cable pattern for so long that I really needed something easy for me.
I’m using size 8 circular needles and I’ll switch to double-pointeds for the crown. I’m also using a double-pointed needle when knitting the cable. I know I have cable needles somewhere, but the double-pointeds were in reach.
The yarn is Vanna’s Choice Charcoal Grey, which is easy to work with.
Here’s where I was with the project last week:
And here’s where I am now:
That’s me and my messy hair popping out the top. I have a smaller head than my hubby, but the hat is pretty stretchy, so I think it’ll work. I’m probably about 2/3 of the way done, maybe a little less.
It’s been a lot of fun though. I’ll post an update next week!
